Spectacular views across the Mersey

Set within leafy Cheshire, this genteel former salt port Near Runcorn is within easy reach of both Manchester and Liverpool. Castle Park is a highlight of the town, with open lawns, wooded areas, pretty gardens, bowling greens and tennis courts. Castle Arts Centre is located within the park, and has four galleries and craft units. The walk through the park up Frodsham Hill offers a wonderful view out over the Mersey Estuary towards Liverpool.

Go ape in Delamere Forest

Frodsham is a short drive from this vast woodland, so is a handy port of call if you're attending a Forest Live or sports event there. There's also a Go Ape centre, where you can tackle zip wires and Tarzan swings, and Segway through the forest. The rugged terrain makes it ideal for runners or mountain bikers, or you can walk along the Sandstone Trail, which extends southwards from Frodsham to the forest. The views are well worth striding out for.

A day out in Chester

The beautiful ancient city is just over 15 minutes from Frodsham station by rail, so you can be immersing yourself in history and culture in no time.
