Welcome to Barnard Castle

Barnard Castle is a small market town in the south of County Durham, and takes its name from the castle which it was built around. It's the main settlement in Teesdale, a valley making up the east side of the Pennines. One of its most well-known features is the Bowes Museum, a large collection of European fine art, including works by De Goya and El Greco.
