A walk around Buxton

Buxton is a market town in the north-west of Derbyshire, with the highest elevation above sea level of any market town in England. Less than an hour's drive from Derby, Manchester, and Sheffield, Buxton has been a popular destination for visitors to the Peak District for decades, and its characteristic Georgian and Victorian architecture regularly provides the backdrop to various theatre, music, and festival events throughout the calendar.

The Peak District National Park

Buxton has been described as a Gateway to the Peak District due to its close proximity to one of the UK's most popular national parks. A huge expanse of breathtaking hills and valleys, scattered with quaint market towns, villages, and historical sites, countless visitors flock to the Peak District every year to explore its staggering beauty, and get away from the furore of urban life.

Be amazed by the Devonshire Dome

One of Derby's most impressive and unique historical attractions, the Devonshire Dome was built in the late 18th century for the Duke of Devonshire, designed with facilities for over 100 horses and accommodation for dozens of servants. The dome itself measures 150 feet in diameter, and is the largest unsupported architectural dome in Europe. Today it houses a popular commercial spa and hair and beauty salons, along with a cafe and restaurant.
