The start of the West Highland Way

Lying to the north west of Glasgow, Milngavie (pronounced 'Mill-guy') is only�5 miles from the city centre and offers easy access to Glasgow Airport. This lovely town is an ideal destination if you want to combine a country and city break. It's known for being the starting point of the West Highland Way, Scotland's first long-distance walking route, which goes all the way up to Fort William in the Highlands.

Breathe in beautiful scenery

Mugdock Country Park offers wonderful woodland walks, castles, cycle trails, horse riding and archery, not to mention spectacular views of the Campsie Fells. The equally stunning Glasgow Botanic Gardens has colourful plant collections, woodlands and riverside walks as well as the famous Kibble Palace, a magnificent glasshouse full of tropical plants.

Head indoors on a rainy day

Weather not great? That's not a problem as Glasgow has loads of indoor attractions to keep you entertained. Kelvingrove Art Gallery is free to visit, with Monet, Rembrandt and Dali masterpieces to admire, while the Glasgow Science Centre is full of fun hands-on activities.
