Things to do in Purfleet
The Purfleet Heritage & Military Centre plays homage to the area's military past, housing a wide range of historical artefacts and memorabilia from the 18th century to the present day. Rainham Marshes is one of the very few ancient landscapes remaining in London, and an important place for a wide range of species including wading birds, wild ducks, birds of prey, water voles, grass snakes and dragonflies. Open to visitors all year round, it has a lovely cafe and gift shop.

Purfleet is perfectly positioned for even the most hard core of shoppers; sandwiched between Bluewater Shopping Mall and Intu Lakeside, visitors have easy access to over 400 stores and 100 bars, restaurants and cafes.
The best racing action in the country
For something a bit different, spend the day at Arena Essex Raceway, a short oval track hosting meetings from February until November. With a small shopping complex and a number of refreshment areas around the circuit, a well as some of the best racing action in the country, it's a great day out for everyone.
