Up and coming Archway

Archway in north London is just south of Highgate and encompasses the area around its tube stop including Junction Road and part of Holloway Road. From 2017, Archway has seen big investment to create a new public town centre and with its range of independent shops, pubs, eclectic international eateries plus a Saturday market. This makes it a great place to visit while enjoying easy access to the city centre by tube. The independent traders on Junction Road are well worth a nosey around, and the buzzing Saturday Archway Market offers anything from great second-hand books to artisan cheeses. Eat at 500 Restaurant, a well-regarded Italian on Holloway Road, and sample a bottle or two at Theatre of Wine on Junction Road.

An atmospheric walk through Highgate Cemetery

A short walk from Archway tube stop, Highgate Cemetery is well worth a visit. Famously home to the grave of Karl Marx, other luminaries who rest here include Victorian novelist George Eliot and artist Patrick Caulfield - who designed his own striking memorial. Slightly further on from Highgate Cemetery is the beautiful Hampstead Heath. On a hot day, many head to the lido on Parliament Hill for a refreshing dip, and there are also natural bathing ponds for the brave-hearted.

See an art treasure at Kenwood House

Kenwood House is a jewel in Hampstead Heath and home to a fabulous art collection including Vermeer's The Guitar Player and Rembrandt's Portrait of The Artist. Looking for a cheap hotel Near Archway? Travelodge London Finsbury Park Hotel's a good bet or try Travelodge London Wood Green Hotel.
