Long walks and famous faces in Highgate

Situated just north-east of Hampstead Heath in north west London, Highgate is one of the capital's most charming neighbourhoods. Head for the Heath, as it's known to locals, and up Parliament Hill for stunning views out over London. Nearby Grade I-listed Highgate Cemetery is one of London's Magnifcent Seven and is home to many famous names like Karl Marx and Douglas Adams.

Keep it classy on Highgate's pub scene

This affluent area is home to some of the capital's best traditional boozers with a decidely contemporary, upmarket vibe - but doesn't have to break the bank. Start at The Duke's Head for craft beer and real ale before enjoying the historic 17th century interiors of the The Flask, the reputed former haunt of Dick Turpin. Highgate is home to its fair share of gastropubs, too. The Angel Inn is famed for its roasts, as well as being a great option for families. Sports fans shoud book ahead to nab a table to watch live action on the big screen.

A rocking night out in Camden

Highgate sits a short bus ride from buzzing Camden, where you can experience some of the best nightlife London has to offer. Start with a canalside pint at The Ice Wharf, a stone's throw from the famous Camden Lock. Dingwalls and The Dublin Castle are both renowned live music venues, whilst the Jazz Cafe hosts regular club nights. Looking for cheap accommodation in Highgate?
