There's more to Mile End than you may think
Mile End on the east of the City of London is only really known for the Queen Mary University, which is a historic and well respected institution. The district, however, does have more to offer than just this - as in a lot of university-centred towns and areas, there is a vibrant atmosphere with an international influence, coupled with good nightlife and nice food at decent prices. The Greedy Cow restaurant is particularly recommended for adventurous diners: crocodile, camel and kangaroo are all on the menu.
Venture into the heart of London
Mile End is rather central already, however just a short hop away by train, bus or taxi is Whitechapel - a remarkable area with a wealth of history and a highly recommended gallery - along with the Tower of London, St Paul's Cathedral, the Museum of London and much more.
Take in a show
A little further along the Central Line is Marble Arch station, and the West End. Whether you're planning your first visit to the capital or you're a jaded Londonite, the theatres, bars and restaurants in the West End make for a memorable evening out.
