Petts Wood: a countryside haven in south-east London

Set in south-east London in the borough of Bromley, Petts Wood is a suburb best known for its expanse of unspoilt countryside. Managed by the National Trust, it's a great place to spend the day walking or cycling the trails with your family. With over 200 acres of woodland to explore, it's hard to believe you're just 13 miles from the city centre.

While Petts Wood is famous for its woodland, there's plenty to explore on the urban side, too. To the east of the station, the Nugent Shopping Centre is home to a selection of popular high street shops, while the town high street is lined with boutiques and independent cafes.

In Nearby Orpington, you'll find the Walnuts Shopping Centre, home to over 40 shops, restaurants and a cinema, while Bromley boasts The Glades, a huge shopping complex with all the shops you'll ever need.

Breeze into Bromley

Just 15 minutes by bus, Petts Wood's largest neighbour, Bromley, is a great place to spend a day while you're in south-east London. Catch a play at the Churchill Theatre, or enjoy a walk in High Elms Country Park.

Biggins Hill played a key role in the Second World War, while Darwin's Down House, just outside the town centre, was where the genius thought up The Origin of the Species.
