Parks and open spaces

Stamford Park boasts a boating lake, aviary and a children's play area, as well as lots of open space for picnics and outdoor games. Cheetham Park is another great place to explore, with popular play areas, a sculpture trail, heritage and nature trail, community orchard and Eastwood Nature Reserve - home to numerous bird and mammal species in its steep-sided broadleaved woodland. Take a walk on the wide side at Stalybridge Country Park, a great place to enjoy quiet riverside walks, wooded valleys or even open moorland; enjoy walking, horse-riding or cycling, or take part in one of the many children's activities run by the Ranger Service throughout the year.

The Transpennine Real Ale Trail

As featured on BBC's Oz and James Drink to Britain, the Transpennine Real Ale Trail transports enthusiasts to a selection of the best real ale pubs in Yorkshire and Lancashire. Visit Stalybridge's own Station Buffet Bar, one of the few remaining Victorian station buffet bars - a veritable museum filled with photographs of the station and other memorabilia. Enjoy up to eight real ales from its ever-changing range.

Days out with the kids

Get your skates on at the Skate Station, a fantastic roller skating rink that the kids will love. Or overcome your fear of heights at Sky High Adventure - an indoor climbing facility with a range of different courses for every ability.
