A spectacular setting at the Royal Marines Museum

Although the museum's galleries are now closed, the Royal Marines Museum in Portsmouth is still open as an events space and wedding venue. When visiting, try and steal away for a bit and explore the beautiful landscaped gardens and grand halls of the magnificent Grade II listed building. Portsmouth's beach and city centre are all just steps away.

A lovely walk on Eastney Beach

Just steps away from the Royal Marines Museum is Portsmouth's main beach. Lined with pastel-coloured beach huts and surrounded by medieval bastillion architecture, as a sunbathing setting it is certainly unique. On a warm day, enjoy a picnic on the wide sandy stretch or dip your feet into the sea. On cooler days, walk along the esplanade and tuck into some quintessentially British fish and chips.
