Be amazed at Blackpool Illuminations

One of England's largest lights festivals, Blackpool Illuminations was founded over a hundred years ago in 1879. Stretching from along the Promenade to the town of Bispham in the north, the over one million bulbs are switched on in late August by a famous celebrity. Get down early to avoid the queues and spot the fabulous illuminated floats and tramcars, before watching pop stars strut their stuff on stage.

Buzzing Blackpool's nightlife

Famous as a destination of choice for stag and hen parties, Blackpool has a diverse nightlife catering to many tastes. The Grand Theatre is an opulent Victorian playhouse staging live theatre, dance and comedy. Viva is one of the town's leading cabaret clubs, while the compact centre is dotted with vibrant pubs and bars. For clubbers, Flamingo is famous for its size and star DJs.

Long walks by the River Ribble

Less than 25 minutes south of Blackpool by car, Ribble Estuary Nature Reserve is a gorgeous expanse of coastal marshes popular with birdwatchers and walkers. After a long walk, make the short trip south to Churchtown to dine in one of its charming village pubs.
