Feeding time at the farm
This 20 acre farm is home to over 100 animals including rare breeds of pigs, cattle and sheep. Don't forget to pick up some animal feed from the shop before visiting the animals as you are encouraged to feed them on your way around the farm. Once you are done feeding the residents why not head over to the picnic area for a meal yourselves and take in the sights of the wildlife garden whilst the children enjoy the outdoor play area.
Seeing stars
Don't miss the National Space Centre when visiting Birstall. The iconic 'beehive' tower houses two rockets, Blue Streak and Thor and a great selection of hands on activities as well as the UK's largest domed planetarium. Keep an eye out for special events as the centre often hosts exhibitions including Star Wars and Doctor Who days.
Try something new
Families looking for some adventure should head over to the Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre. Here you can try your hand at archery and fencing or throw yourself into activities like the Leap of Faith or a canoe trip down the River Soar. There's plenty to choose from and it's just a mile from the centre of Birstall. For an affordable, pleasant stay in Birstall check out the Travelodge Leicester Central, Travelodge Hinckley Road or Travelodge Markfield hotels.
