Re-live Leicester's long history

Welford Road Stadium is home to rugby union club Leicester Tigers, and is located close to the centre of the largest city in the East Midlands. Leicester is steeped in history: in 2012 archaeologists discovered the long lost remains of King Richard III more than 500 years after he was buried following his defeat at the epic Battle of Bosworth. The newly opened King Richard III Visitor Centre tracks the history of the infamous king from the medieval period to the present day.

Lively Leicester's nightlife

Leicester's two universities mean the city boasts a vibrant and diverse nightlife that caters to locals, students and visitors alike. For traditional pubs head just east of the compact city centre. The Marquis, just north of Victoria Park and the University of Leicester, boasts quirky vintage decor and a charming garden that's perfect for the summer months. Serious beer drinkers should head to BrewDog Leicester for forward-thinking brews in a stylish industrial space.

Blast off at National Space Centre

The whole family will love Leicester's National Space Centre, with its six interactive galleries and the largest planetarium in the UK, located less than two miles from the city centre. The centrepiece is a 42m high rocket tower - but don't forget to visit the fascinating replica module from the International Space Station.
