Come visit historic Leicester

Sitting just south of the city centre, Leicester Royal Infirmary is perfectly placed for exploring the historic sites in the East Midlands' largest city. The newly opened King Richard III Visitor Centre charts the history of the famous monarch from the medieval period to 2012, when his remains were discovered Near and later reburied in Leicester Cathedral. The city is also sprinkled with fascinating architecture: Leicester Guildhall is a Grade I listed 14th century relic with delightfully preserved timber detailing.

Leicester is perfect for a day out with the kids - no matter what their age. Head for the National Space Centre, which boasts six interactive galleries, the largest planetarium in the UK and a fascinating replica module from the International Space Station. For younger ones, 360 Play Leicester offers plenty to keep toddlers busy, while in the north-east of the city you can test out your trampoline skills at Flip Out. Meanwhile, Hollywood Bowl is a modern bowling alley with a well-stocked arcade, that's perfect for birthday parties and celebrations.

Shopping in Leicester

As the largest city in the East Midlands, Leicester is the region's retail hub. Just out of the town, the sprawling Fosse Shopping Park is home to high street fashion, while Highcross Shopping Centre contains over 150 shops, cafes and restaurants, including a large John Lewis.
