Billingsgate Fish Market - value for money seafood

Located in the Isle of Dogs, Billingsgate is the UK's largest inland fish market. Named after the area in which it was originally set up in the 19th century, it was back then the largest such market in the world. From Tuesday to Saturday each week, its 13 acres are host to top-quality seafood, at prices rarely seen in London, and a great, homely atmosphere.

Canary Wharf - hub to big business

Close to Billingsgate Fish Market, you'll find a very different atmosphere. Canary Wharf is one of the UK's two main financial centres, along with the City of London. You'll find the European headquarters of major banks including HSBC and Barclays. Dominating the skyline are some of Europe's tallest buildings, including the iconic One Canada Square and its 50 floors.

Venture forth on the Cutty Sark

One of the world's most famous ships, the Cutty Sark is the last remaining tea clipper and the fastest of its time. Despite being damaged by fire twice, it's still popular, especially with children, who love to explore this monument to a bygone ocean-faring age. Planning a trip to London?
