Step back in time

Boasting one of the largest and most comprehensive collections of any such institution in the world, the British Museum houses some 8 million objects encompassing almost every aspect of human history. Even given its age - it's well over 250 years old - the number of works it has amassed is impressive. Little wonder it attracts almost seven million visitors annually.

Knowledge is power

There are several other museums in the area, for those of an inquiring mind - the Charles Dickens Museum, the Foundling Museum and the Wellcome Collection are all close by. What's more, the British Library - once part of the British Museum - is just a mile away at Saint Pancras.

Make the most of London

As you're in the capital, why not take in some of its many sights and sounds? The London Eye, the Tower of London, Big Ben and more are just a short hop by Tube, bus or taxi from the museum.
