The US Embassy on the move

The largest American embassy in western Europe has been in Grosvenor Square in the heart of Mayfair since 1960, but will move to a new hi-tech building in the Nine Elms area of London. It's the focal spot for events relating to the US that are held in the UK. In Grosvenor Square Garden you can see the memorial statue to Franklin D Roosevelt, as well as the Eagles Squadron memorial and the September 11 memorial garden.

Hunt for bargains on Oxford Street

Soak up the lively atmosphere on the UK's busiest shopping street as you join the throngs of people seeking out a good deal. Make sure you allow plenty of time to visit your favourite stores as there's more than 300 to choose from. The flagship Selfridges store is here, as is Adidas, Topshop, Boux Avenue, Gap, H&M, Skechers and much more.

Relax or get active in Hyde Park

If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a while, there's no better place than this vast expanse of green open space. Take to the water to enjoy boating or swimming in summer, or stay on dry land to play tennis, jog or simply relax with a gentle stroll, stopping off to take photos of the Achilles statue and Diana Memorial Fountain.
