With its lovely honey-coloured buildings, plus interesting shops, eateries and a leisure centre with swimming pool, there’s lots to keep everyone entertained. Fine dining at River Cottage
Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s renowned establishment is around 20 minutes by train or car. It doesn’t operate like a conventional restaurant, but you can book a range of dining or making experiences. For another gourmet pleasure, seek out Perry’s Cider Mill where you can see how one of Somerset’s best known exports is made, and sample some too. Head to the charming town of Ilminster which has lovely shops, streets and eateries to explore, or breathe in the history at the atmospheric Barrington Court, which has beautiful gardens to wander too.
