Wonderful Wiveliscombe

The tiny town of Wiveliscombe is located between Taunton and the expansive landscapes of Exmoor National Park in Somerset. The charming Victorian centre is dotted with lovely architecture, which visitors can explore by walking the Historic Town Trail - and learn all about Wiveliscombe's unusual connection with the London Blitz. Each year the town and the surrounding parishes celebrate creativity as part of the 10 Parishes Festival, as local artists, performers and musicians converge to host community events and shows.

Explore Exmoor

Just 15 minutes' drive west of Wiveliscombe you'll find the bleakly beautiful moorland landscapes of Exmoor National Park. It's a magnet for walkers and ramblers, with Dunkery Beacon, the highest point in the park, offering stunning panoramic views. In the north of the park, history buffs can enjoy a visit to National Trust Dunster Castle. The 1000-year old stronghold towers over the landscape, and today retains beautiful subtropical gardens to explore.

Enjoy a tipple in Taunton

Head east of Wiveliscombe for 10 miles and you'll arrive in Taunton, famed for its lively nightlife. Sample famous local Somerset ciders at The Plough Inn, before moving on to The Ring Of Bells, a wonderfully preserved, traditional pub serving up craft ales. For something unique, Bierkeller brings a slice of Bavaria to Somerset, and visitors can enjoy a stein of beer and dance away to a traditional oompah band.
