Exploring Yorkshire from Thorne

Thorne is a market town in South Yorkshire, around 10 miles from Doncaster. It's a great base for exploring the many popular attractions in the local area, with the Yorkshire Wildlife Park and beautiful Yorkshire Wolds both Nearby. Thorne itself is much loved by locals for its good range of shops - try The Cheese Basket for a superb range of English cheeses. If golf's your thing there's an 18-hole course in the town with great value green fees.

What to do in south Yorkshire

The Yorkshire Wildlife Park is an award-winning attraction that's home to some spectacular beasts including a pride of lions - which have seven acres to roam in - Amur tigers and much more. For more thrills head to the Doncaster Dome, which has a multi-pool swimming experience plus exciting split-level ice rink and indoor play zone. On a sunny day, Conisbrough Castle offers great views of the surrounding area or families will love a trip to the Pink Pig Farm Near Scunthorpe, which has a play barn, cafe and shop in a working farm.

The bright lights of Leeds

In 45 minutes' drive you can be in the city of Leeds, home to fabulous shopping, restaurants and nightlife. For something different, the Royal Armouries Museum is a popular attraction and free to enter. Seek out The Corn Exchange for lovely independent shops and cafes in a stunning setting, or Victoria Quarter for upmarket labels. Looking for a cheap hotel Near Thorne?
