Doncaster Racecourse: the best of British racing in South Yorkshire

Since the 16th century, Doncaster Racecourse has held some of the highlights of the horse racing calendar, including the esteemed St Leger Stakes and the Racing Post Trophy.

With fixtures running from January to March and September to December, the racecourse is busy through winter, but in the summer months, it's a unique wedding and events venue just 20 minutes from the town centre.

Explore the best of Doncaster

The market town of Doncaster might usually be overshadowed by its Yorkshire neighbours Sheffield and Leeds, but there's plenty to see and do here, too.

From military museums like the Vulcan Experience and Ashworth Barracks to lavish Cusworth Hall, Doncaster is crammed with history. Elsewhere, shoppers will enjoy a spot of retail therapy at Lakeside Village Outlet.

Let the kids run wild at Yorkshire Wildlife Park

Visit Yorkshire Wildlife Park and you'll get to meet Victor, Pixel, Nissan and Nobby - the only four polar bears in the UK. The park has provided the creatures with a special habitat so you can watch them sleep, eat and play while learning all about the conservation of the species.

Need another reason to visit? This fantastic zoo is home to almost 400 animals and 70 different species, including lions, baboons, meerkats and otters.
