Retrace the steps of Queen Victoria and Jane Austen at Stoneleigh Abbey

Stoneleigh Abbey is a magnificent Grade 1 listed mansion set in a large country estate in Warwickshire, just over 15 minutes' drive south of Coventry. Licenced for weddings, the house also opens for public tours enabling visitors to see where renowned novelist Jane Austen came to stay and gained inspiration for her novel Mansfield Park. Other famous visitors include Charles I and Queen Victoria.

Get medieval at Warwick Castle

See the mighty trebuchet, get lost in the Horrible Histories maze and marvel at the interiors - Warwick Castle is a mighty spectacle and a popular attraction just over 20 minutes' drive away. Near the castle, the elegant town of Royal Leamington Spa is well worth a wander. The Royal Pump Rooms are home to the town's library plus Art Gallery & Museum, and opposite are the beautiful Jephson Gardens. For something different, try your hand at the lesser-known sport of disc golf at Quarry Park.

Discover Shakespeare in Stratford-upon-Avon

Within half an hour's drive of Stoneleigh you can be in Stratford, one of England's loveliest towns and the home of its most famous playwright. Visit Shakespeare's birthplace and catch a play performed by the world famous Royal Shakespeare Company. Stratford's also home to a butterfly farm, and curious youngsters (and grown-ups) will love the MAD Museum full of intriguing mechanical exhibits in the town centre.
