Good Friday takes you into the world of classic literature! Longleat is hosting Once Upon an Easter to celebrate the National Year of Reading. The estate is being transformed into interactive story zones. You can follow the Yellow Brick Road, join the Mad Hatter for tea, or help Goldilocks find the “just right” chair.
If you have some energy left, drive over to Cheddar Gorge & Caves. Located in the Mendip Hills, Cheddar Gorge & Cave has partnered with Aardman for The Illuminated Cave experience from the 28th March until the 31st May 2026. Expect to see Gough’s Cave filled with glowing light installations of Wallace, Gromit and Shaun the Sheep. It’s simply a spectacular indoor (and rain-proof!) way to spend Easter Saturday afternoon.
It’s a wonderfully charming experience, and afterwards the kids can join the Easter Trail around the orchard or meet the resident farm animals. Somerset Rural Life Museum’s Easter on the Farm is a gentler pace that’s perfect for an Easter Sunday before exploring the mystical sights of the nearby Glastonbury Tor.
And as it’s Eden’s 25th anniversary, you can be among the first to try out their brand-new permanent installation: the Giant Marble Runs. With over 100 metres of wooden tracks winding through the gardens, it’s a brilliant way for kids to play in nature while you enjoy the spring blooms.
