Longleat WiltshireGood Friday takes you into the world of classic literature! Longleat is hosting Once Upon an Easter to celebrate the National Year of Reading. The estate is being transformed into interactive story zones. You can follow the Yellow Brick Road, join the Mad Hatter for tea, or help Goldilocks find the “just right” chair.

Don’t forget that 2026 marks 60 years since Longleat opened the first drive-through safari outside Africa! After the storybook trails, take the car through the enclosures to see the famous lions and the mischievous monkeys. It’s a full day of ‘tails and tales’ that will keep everyone from toddlers to teens smiling.

Saturday – 4th April 2026

On Sunday, head to the East Somerset Railway in Cranmore for their Easter Weekend. Hop aboard a heritage steam train for a ride through the Mendip countryside, but keep your eyes peeled – a traditional Easter Egg Hunt is happening right at the station and along the line!

Cheddar GorgeIf you have some energy left, drive over to Cheddar Gorge & Caves. Located in the Mendip Hills, Cheddar Gorge & Cave has partnered with Aardman for The Illuminated Cave experience from the 28th March until the 31st May 2026. Expect to see Gough’s Cave filled with glowing light installations of Wallace, Gromit and Shaun the Sheep. It’s simply a spectacular indoor (and rain-proof!) way to spend Easter Saturday afternoon.

Easter Sunday – 5th April 2026

For a Sunday that feels like stepping into a storybook, head to Glastonbury for the Somerset Rural Life Museum’s special Easter on the Farm weekend. On Sunday, little ones can take part in the Easter Egg Hunt, which will take place in the farm’s gorgeous orchard. Egg hunts will take place at 11:30am, 2pm and 3:30pm.

Glastonbury TorIt’s a wonderfully charming experience, and afterwards the kids can join the Easter Trail around the orchard or meet the resident farm animals. Somerset Rural Life Museum’s Easter on the Farm is a gentler pace that’s perfect for an Easter Sunday before exploring the mystical sights of the nearby Glastonbury Tor.

Bank Holiday Monday – 6th April 2026

Kick off your Bank Holiday Monday with a trip south for some mythical magic at the Eden Project. For Easter 2026, the famous biomes are being taken over by the Dragon Egg Trail. Kids can become ‘Dragonologists,’ hunting for rare eggs tucked away among the exotic plants and solving riddles from the Cornish Dragon Conservation Society.

Eden ProjectAnd as it’s Eden’s 25th anniversary, you can be among the first to try out their brand-new permanent installation: the Giant Marble Runs. With over 100 metres of wooden tracks winding through the gardens, it’s a brilliant way for kids to play in nature while you enjoy the spring blooms.

Craving some beachside fun? Just a short 15-minute drive from the Eden Project, you’ll find one of Cornwall’s prettiest seaside spots: Porthpean Beach. This sandy beach is known for its gorgeous sunsets, a dog-friendly policy and crystal clear waters. You’ll even find the Porthpean Outdoor Activity Centre nearby, offering kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding (SUP).
