Pretty as a picture

The pretty riverside parish of Bray can be found along the banks of the River Thames, between Maidenhead and Windsor. It's a charming and picturesque place to visit, exactly what you imagine when you think of a classic English village. Nearby is one of the country's finest Tudor mansions, Dorney Court. Here you can take a tour of the house and its grounds, while learning more about its 500 year history.

Get back to nature

Hidden out of the way, but well worth a visit, Braywick Nature Centre is a great place to take the kids for an educational and fun day out. Here you can observe birds and other wildlife, as well as taking part in activities such as pond dipping, nature walks and bug hunting. Bring a picnic and a few books to while away the day.

Escape to the country

Get outside and stretch your legs in the enchanting woodland of Burnham Beeches. Here you'll find walking trails, a playground and a cafe to refuel. There's a lake with ducks who'll happily say hello for a bit of bread or lettuce, as well as some cows - who strangely enough actually live in the forest. Looking for a place to stay in Bray? With the M4 Nearby there are plenty of options. The Maidenhead Central Travelodge is only 10 minutes away by car, or if you fancy staying closer to the action in London, there are Travelodge hotels in Slough and Windsor Central to choose from.
