See Station Jim at Slough

Slough Train Station is a Victorian building serving 4.3 million passengers and offering regular services to London along with Reading, Windsor and Oxford. Passengers are set to benefit further from a multi-million pound project seeing new services running straight to central London, due in 2019. While here don't miss a quick trip to platform 5 where there is a cabinet displaying Station Jim, a stuffed dog who was famous in the 19th century for its ability to collect charity money.

Exploring Slough

Slough may have been disliked by the poet Betjeman but there's actually lots to enjoy here. Outdoor types will love Black Park which has a Go Ape! course, and there's an ice rink in town plus Queensmere Observatory Shopping Centre. The town has also recently seen some stunning modern architecture such as the arresting silver Curve building, home to the library, with even the bus station enjoying a stylish new-age look. One of the area's most popular attractions, LEGOLAND Windsor Resort, is only 15 minutes' drive away. Whether you're feeling like a giant in the Minilands or testing your hose skills in the Fire Academy, it's lots of fun for everyone.

The Royal connection at Windsor

Windsor Castle is very close and well worth the trip. It's the oldest and largest inhabited castle in the world - visit for magnificent state rooms, Queen Mary's Dolls' House and more.
