Things to do in Chatteris
Enjoy free admission to the Chatteris Museum, and learn about the history of the town and surrounding fenland area. The best English villages have the best pubs, and Chatteris is no exception - pop into the traditional Cross Keys Pub for a drink and a meal.
Get back to nature
Enjoy a tranquil walk through Ouse Washes, a vast wet grassland site with stunning views of the countryside. In the heart of The Fens, it's the largest area of washland in the UK, attracting thousands of ducks, swans, snipe, lapwings and redshanks.
Days out with the kids
Not to be missed is the Skylark Maize Maze and Fun Yard in the Nearby town of March, where the kids will love trying to navigate the huge maze, taking a ride on a tractor, cheering on their favourite sow in the pig races, visit the petting zoo, timing themselves on the obstacle course and much more. Budding archaeologists will have a great day out at Fossils Galore; admire the extensive collection of fossils and crystals from around the world, view the preparation laboratory where you can see the team working on the bones of a range of animals from the Ice Age through to the Jurassic era, and take part in a changing programme of activities, including dinosaur hunting and panning for gold.
