About Weymouth Railway Station

Weymouth Railway Station is the main train station serving the large coastal town of Weymouth, Dorset. It serves as a terminus for the Heart of Wessex Line and the South Western Main Line. It was designed by the architect TH Bertram, and first opened in 1857.

Welcome to Weymouth

Weymouth is a picturesque coastal town, featuring everything that sums up the quintessential English seaside holiday. Its beautiful, sandy beach is a hot spot for surfers and other water sports enthusiasts, and dotted with quaint shops, restaurants and attractions to explore. If you're looking for an escape from towns and cities, the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is just a few minutes inland, perfect for walks, cycling and picnics.

Visit Max Gate

An imposing, yet beautiful town house dating back to the late Victorian period, Max Gate is one of the proudest historical sites in Dorset. For many years, it was the home of one of Dorset's most famous children - the author and poet Thomas Hardy. The interior of the home, and the garden surrounding it, have been kept more or less as they would have looked when the famous wordsmith lived there.
