Old meets new in Stonehouse

A small town in the Stroud district of Gloucestershire, Stonehouse is on the up thanks to some large employers investing in the area - including Muller's Severnside Dairy. It has good transport links, close to the M5 and under 10 miles from Gloucester city centre. However it also boasts some real history, with many old buildings including one of the town's three pubs, the Woolpack Inn, which dates back to the 17th century.

Take a hike

The Cotswolds Way, a national trail, runs right past Stonehouse, meaning there's plenty of good hiking opportunities to be had. Just three miles east is Stroud, a pleasant market town surrounded by the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Stroud High Street is recommended, particularly on market days.

Visit Gloucester for a fun day out

With the county city of Gloucester within easy reach, it makes sense to pay it a visit. There're a great deal of history to be found, with museums and galleries showing off its Roman and pre-Roman roots; good restaurants are in abundance, too, and the city centre is a worthwhile shopping destination.

Looking for accommodation in Stonehouse? Travelodge Stonehouse Hotel is the best option, while travellers from the north might find Travelodge Gloucester Hotel convenient. Travelodge Cirencester Hotel, meanwhile, is a 30-minute drive to the east.
