Discover a mystery beneath the streets

This Hertfordshire town is notable for being on the Greenwich Meridian, the place where east meets west. It's also where a mysterious beehive-shaped cave lies beneath the streets. Little is known about how it got there, but it does have some impressive wall carvings that are worth seeing. Royston has good transport links as it's close to the M11, and both Luton and Stansted airports are within easy reach.

Take a walk on the wild side

See tigers, red pandas, lemurs and birds of prey at Nearby Shepreth Wildlife Park. You can also feed the fish at the jetty and enjoy a ride on the safari train. At Nearby Wimpole Home Farm you can meet goats, cattle, sheep, pigs and horses, learning how they're looked after. Youngsters can have a go at grooming the donkeys and driving a mini tractor.
