Go wild at Blackpool Zoo

Multi award-winning Blackpool Zoo sits just east of the town centre, on a 32-acre site that's home to over 1,500 animals from around the globe. Don't miss Wallace and his cub Khari, Blackpool Zoo's resident lions, as well as Zamba and Alyona, two majestic Amur Tigers. Other popular residents include elephants, orangutans and gorillas. Explore Stanley Park

Grade II listed Stanley Park sits next to Blackpool Zoo in the east of the town. Built in the 1920s, Stanley Park's centrepiece is a beautiful Italianate marble fountain and you can also enjoy a relaxing drift on the boating lake. There are also a range of activities on offer, including crazy golf, a skatepark and a large playground for younger ones. Don't miss the quirky model village, with its charming miniature castles and cottages.

Just 30 minutes east of Blackpool in the car, the city of Preston is Lancashire's historic hub. Take in the Greek-style murals and fascinating collection of textiles at Harris Museum and Art Gallery, before visiting the gorgeous Preston Bus Station, a fine example of the Brutalist architectural style.
