A short walk from Forest Gate and definitely worth a visit is the Grade II listed Old Town Hall in Stratford. Once described as the finest building in Essex, it has been restored to full Victorian splendour. For something far more contemporary, try the ArcelorMittal Orbit, the UK's tallest sculpture with fantastic views over all of London and the world's longest, fastest, tallest tunnel slide.

A shopper's paradise

Though just a short tube ride from central London with all the fantastic shopping options it has on offer, keen shoppers need venture no further than Westfield Stratford City to find anything and everything they might want. The largest urban shopping and leisure destination in Europe, Westfield is home to over 250 stores, including high street favourites and celebrated home and lifestyle brands. If it's fresh produce or arts and crafts that you're after, visit the vibrant and colourful Queen's Market, one of London's most famous and diverse markets, and one of its cheapest; very much part of the local community, the market celebrates events and festivals throughout the year.
