Wallingford - more than just a market town

The attractive Oxfordshire town of Wallingford is perhaps best known for its markets and historic town centre, with the imposing town hall and corn exchange buildings giving it something of a picture postcard appearance, but it has much more to offer. Local outdoors company AV Boats host canoeing and kayaking experiences; Brightwell Vineyard offer tours and tastings, and the local museum allows for an intriguing look back into the area's colourful past.

Get your motor running

The Aston Martin Heritage Trust is based in Wallingford, with a wealth of examples of well preserved and restored vehicles all housed in a medieval barn. The fabulous Vantage on display is perhaps the jewel in the crown, but with cars dating back to the very beginning of Aston Martin Lagonda Ltd there are a great many contenders.

Say hello at Island Farm Donkey Sanctuary

Island Farm Donkey Sanctuary is a must for families. The charity is expertly run, and does great work looking after jacks and jennies of all ages. Kids will love getting hands-on with some of the residents, and parents will appreciate the free entry (although donations are welcome), and opportunity for fresh air and exercise.
