Welcome to Mexborough
Mexborough is a formerly industrial town in the heart of South Yorkshire, historically a part of the West Riding. The area was a densely populated home of Brigantian tribes in ancient history. The town’s economy swelled with the expansion of coal mining, quarrying and masonry during the industrial revolution. It lies to the north-east of Sheffield, and west of Doncaster.
Known as the Steel City for its industrious past, Sheffield has many highlights to discover for the first-time visitor. The Weston Park and Kelham Island Museums are packed with fascinating exhibitions, ranging from Egyptian mummies to stuffed polar bears, and the Millennium Gallery offers a look into the city’s more unique and obscure arts culture. A short drive to the west, you’ll find the Peak District National Park, one of the most beautiful areas of natural beauty in the UK.
Exploring Bolsover Castle
Steeped in history and surrounded by one-of-a-kind views of the Derbyshire countryside, Bolsover Castle is a fairy-tale mansion from the Stuart era, designed specifically to impress and entertain all who visited it.
