Travelodge offers customers free haircast to achieve the Cheryl Cole look

Girls Aloud’ popstrel, ‘X factor’ über-judge and style icon Cheryl Cole has topped the charts for having the ‘most wanted’ celebrity hairstyle according to a Travelodge poll. The glamorous Geordie’s barnet beat American sweetheart Jennifer Aniston’s sleek straight hairdo and desperate housewife Eva Longoria’s elegant full-bodied hairstyle; in the hair battle for Britain’s most sought after female hairstyle.

The Travelodge ‘Top of the Tresses’ survey polled 5,000 females to find out which celebrity hairstyle, they would most like to recreate on themselves for a ‘night out on the tiles’. Findings revealed the top five celebrity hairstyles British women want to replicate in order to look and feel good are:

  1. Cheryl Cole’s sexy glamorous ‘big hairdo’
  2. Jennifer Aniston’s straight sleek hairstyle
  3. Eva Longoria’s elegant full-bodied hairdo
  4. Victoria Beckham’s straight ‘choppy’ hairstyle
  5. Kate Moss’s ‘just got out of bed’ hairdo

In response to these findings and to assist ‘Cheryl Cole wannabes’, Travelodge has teamed with up with Trevor Sorbie salons to create a simple five step ‘Haircast’ and ‘Stylesheet’ to help its female customers to set their look in the hotel room before heading out for the evening.

The ‘Haircast’ is a three minute visual (five) step by step guide which demonstrates Kate Wingrove creating Cheryl Cole’s hairstyle on a model. The supporting ‘Stylesheet’ is a one page illustration of the five steps. Both guides can be downloaded free of charge at clicking the links below:

The UK under a magnifying glass

Download dialect guides and learn the local lingo

It's a sign of the times when Brits know more foreign phrases than their own regional sayings. A new report conducted by Travelodge has revealed 85% of Britons can understand European phrases but only 46% of adults can decipher British regional dialects such as Geordie, Scouse and Cockney.

In a bid to test the nation's knowledge of native phrases and British regional dialects, budget hotel chain Travelodge polled 3,000 Britons and found we know more about our European neighbours than our British neighbours. Findings revealed; 85% of Brits know that a German 'Weiner' is a sausage, 90% of adults could translate the Spanish phrase 'Hasta la Vista'? meaning 'See you later' and 70% of Britons know an Italian 'Piazza' is a town square.

When it came to identifying British regional phrases respondents struggled, more than a third of Brits thought a Lancashire 'chitty' (meaning a young girl) is a shopping list and 17% of respondents thought it was another word for the 'powder room'. Eighteen per cent of respondents thought the Yorkshire term of calling a cheeky child a 'Scopadiddle' refers to a spicy sausage and one in ten adults thought it meant a playground. Fifty per cent of adults thought a London 'Wolly' - a pickled gherkin served in fish and chips shops across the capital, is a Scottish delicacy.

In response to these findings and to help the nation learn more about their regional dialects, Travelodge has developed ten free 'UK Regional Lingo Guides' - to help Brits converse more easily with locals when travelling throughout the UK. (Now everyone can understand what it means to go for some 'Scran' in Liverpool).

Woman listening to a Nodcast in bed

Travelodge launches UK's first 'Nodcasts' as research reveals Britain is in wake of insomnia epidemic

Up to 23 million British workers are losing an hour's sleep every night because they dread going to work the next day, according to a new study by Travelodge. Dealing with a difficult boss or colleague, missing a deadline, giving an important presentation and coping with heavy workloads are just some of the reasons why work worries are giving Brits slumber stress rather than sweet dreams.

The research also revealed 51% of us are kept awake at night worrying about mistakes made at work during the day and other work related issues causing slumber stress are:

  • Dealing with a difficult boss (28%)
  • Having to give an important presentation (19%)
  • Missing a work deadline (18%)

Now in a UK-first, to treat the nation's night-time woes and improve workplace productivity, Travelodge is offering customers the chance to take up 'motivational sleeping'. The hotel chain has commissioned internationally acclaimed Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) therapist Greg Laws to record a series of inspirational "Nodcasts" to tap into the unconscious mind and help millions of UK workers to run their lives more successfully, while they sleep.

The Nodcasts can be downloaded free of charge, click here for the:

  • Assertiveness Nodcast ? how to say what you want and get it
  • Confidence Nodcast ? how to get a "can do" attitude
  • Communication Nodcast - how to make more friends and influence more people
  • Stress Nodcast ? how to combat anxiety and relax
  • Motivation Nodcast ? how to overcome inertia and seize the day

The Nodcasts should be listened to last thing before going to bed. Lying on the bed is the best way to listen to them or under the duvet if it's more comfortable.

Cuddilow

Travelodge launches "Cuddillow" the UK's first cuddling pillow for lonely guests

In response to customers who find it difficult to sleep on their own when travelling solo, Travelodge has created "Cuddillow" the UK?s first cuddling pillow.

A survey of 2000 solitary travellers by the UK hotel chain identified 57% of respondents felt lonely, sleeping without their partner when away from home. Sixteen per cent found it difficult to fall asleep and nine per cent of respondents felt scared sleeping on their own.

To help lone guests attain a good night sleep, Travelodge has created the "Cuddillow" a bespoke cuddling pillow which is two and half feet in length and has two arms for guests to snuggle into. The "Cuddillow" will be trialled in hotels in Newcastle, Durham, Manchester, Leeds and Birmingham. It will be free of charge for guests to hire.

Wayne Munnelly, Travelodge Sleep Director said: "Our research identified staying away on your own can be lonely, stressful and it plays havoc with your sleep routine. In response to our findings we have developed the "Cuddillow" - It?s a substitute hug to help you to get a good night sleep".
