Plenty to do in Belle Vue

Located in the Gorton area of east Manchester, Belle Vue is an area once best known for its zoo, which closed in the 1980s. It's still, however, home to Belle Vue Stadium, a greyhound racing track that has also staged speedway, stock car and banger racing events. The local railway station is part of the Hope Valley line with regular services to Manchester Piccadilly.

It's all kicking off in Manchester

Sports fans can catch a match at the Etihad Stadium, which lies north of Belle Vue and is home to Premier League team Manchester City. Their arch rivals, Manchester United, are a little further away to the west of the city centre. The National Football Museum is also well worth a visit, taking visitors on a tour through the history of the beautiful game.

Artistic Manchester

Culture vultures are well served in Manchester thanks to a wide variety of exhibition spaces around the city. The Whitworth Art Gallery holds works by Jacob Epstein, van Gogh and Barbara Hepworth, while Manchester Art Gallery focuses on pieces with a local flavour and The Lowry holds contemporary exhibitions, as well as paintings by its artistic namesake.
