Work, rest and play in Brooklands

Named after Manchester banker and businessman Samuel Brooks who owned the area in the 19th century, Brooklands is an area of Sale in Greater Manchester which lies under six miles from the city centre. Thanks to its excellent public transport links via the local railway station and tram network, it's a popular with commuters.

Altrincham is a short journey by rail or road and is a must for history and architecture fans thanks to its fine range of buildings. The Old Market Place is a conservation area consisting of part timber-framed buildings. Of a grander appearance are the 18th-century Dunham Massey Hall, which is owned by the National Trust, and Royd House, which is regarded as one of the most advanced examples of early 20th-century domestic architecture.

From Brooklands to Manchester

A trip into Manchester itself from Brooklands takes visitors past Old Trafford, home of Manchester United. The Lowry, one of Manchester's most popular and acclaimed art galleries, is also close by.
