If you're coming to Trunkwell House and planning to explore Reading, be sure to stop off at Reading Abbey. Historically one of the wealthiest and most influential monasteries in England, the remains can now be explored in the city's Abbey Quarter. Founded by Henry I in 1121, it became his final resting place 15 years later, and was ultimately dissolved by Henry VIII in 1536.
