English seaside heaven at Dawlish

Dawlish is a lovely seaside town on the south Devon coast, around half an hour's drive from Exeter. It has its own glorious town beach, set in a lovely bay, which is great for swimming and hosts boat trips in the summer. A few miles away is the equally lovely Dawlish Warren Beach. One and a half miles of sands with clean water and dunes, it's very popular with families. On wet days Dawlish has an interesting, great value museum and there are lots of good eateries and pubs where you can work up an appetite for a sea dip. Look out for some of the town's famous residents: black swans.

Exploring the English Riviera

This part of the British coast is known as the English Riviera and, with its sparkling waters and pretty towns, it's easy to see why. Teignmouth has a Victorian pier, lovely beach, watersports and lido. Or for something off the beaten track head to the quiet Maidencombe Beach. Torquay has lots for everyone with the popular Living Coasts Zoo and Aquarium and the Nearby Kent Prehistoric Caves are fascinating. For something different, seek out the Babbacombe Model Village and Gardens.

The wilds of Dartmoor

The rugged landscape of Dartmoor is around 40 minutes away by car and well worth the trip. Haytor is a spectacular sight, and you might see a Dartmoor pony here, or have a relaxing walk at Nearby Becky Falls. Looking for a cheap hotel Near Dawlish?
