A bustling market town with a medieval past

Set on the banks of the River Wyre, with the Forest of Bowland on its doorstep, this historic Lancashire market town has a lot to offer. The market cross and the ruins of Greenhalgh Castle overlooking the town are stunning reminders of Garstang's medieval history. Garstang is renowned for its markets, so have a browse while you're here. The weekly Thursday market has stalls selling everything from fashion to plants. For great local produce, the Market House is open from Wednesday to Saturday.

Farmyard fun at Old Holly Farm

Kids and adults alike will love the fun farmyard experience of this family-run dairy farm. Learn how to milk the friendly cows and hold the adorable chicks, let your little ones loose in the indoor Playbarn, and treat yourself to a Coolcow Ice Cream, made on site. The courtyard cafe serves delicious homemade food all day, while the farm shop sells tasty local produce for you to take home. Entry is free all year round except December, when you can even meet Santa's reindeers.

With exhibitions on photography, craft and fine art, Garstang Arts Centre displays the best of Garstang's creative talent.
