Visit the headquarters of British horse racing

Situated in Newmarket, Suffolk, Newmarket Racecourse is a 45,000-capacity racecourse that hosts two of the UK's five classic races, the 1,000 Guineas and 2,000 Guineas.

Newmarket itself is known as the headquarters of British horse racing. You'll find Palace House, the National Heritage Centre for Horseracing, just minutes from the racecourse, as well as The National Stud and Tattersalls.

In the afternoon, head to one of the city's museums, like the Fitzwilliam, or hire a boat and row down the River Cam for an afternoon of complete tranquility.
