Love Leicester's green spaces
Leicester General Hospital is located on the eastern outskirts of the East Midlands' largest city, within easy reaches of some of Leicester's best-loved parks and green spaces. Golfers should head just south of the hospital to the renowned Leicestershire Golf Club, while in the city centre, Abbey Park contains the ruins of an Augustinian monastery set among 32-acres of green space. To the south, Victoria Park is popular with picnicking students thanks to its proximity to University of Leicester.
Discover Leicester's food scene
Leicester is home to a thriving and diverse food scene, and thanks to its large south Asian population, some of the best curry houses in the region. Head straight for the 'Golden Mile', a stretch of the Belgrave Road to the north of the centre, which is lined with highly regarded Indian restaurants. If you're not after curry - don't worry. North Bar and Kitchen serves up beautifully prepared contemporary British cuisine, while Crafty Burger's American comfort food is perfect for an indulgent treat.
Walks in Watermead
Head north of Leicester city centre to explore the wonderful Watermead Country Park, a delightful network of artificial lakes, waterways and walking and cycling trails. To the south, King Lear's Lake is popular with anglers, while there are many picturesque spots for picnics or chilling out with a good book.
