Have a flutter at Leicester Racecourse

Just over four miles from the city centre, Leicester Racecourse draws visitors thanks to its full calendar of National Hunt races, with 31 meets throughout the year. It's also a popular spot for a wedding, exhibition or conference, with its shiny Kube events space, which hosts cabaret, theatre and exhibitions.

Expand your horizons at the National Space Centre

Kids big and small will love the National Space Centre, located less than two miles from the city centre. There are six interactive galleries to explore plus the unique 3D Simulator Experience and largest planetarium in the UK - home of the award-winning We Are Stars show, narrated by Lord of the Rings star Andy Serkis. You can't miss the 42m high rocket tower at the heart of the building, but don't forget to grab a selfie in a replica module from the International Space Station.

Breathe in Leicester's history

The largest city in the East Midlands has a fascinating history and a unique connection to the medieval period. In 2012 archaeologists discovered the remains of King Richard III, more than 500 years after he was buried following his defeat at the epic Battle of Bosworth. The site of the battle, just half an hour by car east of the city centre, is now home to an award-winning museum. Planning a trip to Leicester?
