Forget Bing Crosby and the dream White Christmas -the average Brit will only see snow on Christmas Day just EIGHT times during their life.
A new study by Travelodge* has revealed three quarters of Britain's adults 35 million people hope for snow at Christmas every year and 86% say a white Christmas makes the day 'perfect'.
Despite all the wishing, more than 13 million men and women (29%) say they have never seen a white Christmas.
The survey of over 2,000 adults revealed people in Sunderland are the least likely of all to see snow on Christmas Day. They will only experience a white Christmas every 16.5 years - or just under five times over the average life span.
Norwich will only have a white Christmas once every 14.6 years, Cardiff every 13.3 years, Coventry 13.2 years and Cambridge once every 10.8 years.
Aberdeen tops the list of cities most likely to have a white Christmas Day, with the city's residents seeing one every 2.2 years on average. Glasgow is next on the list at every 4.7 years.

More than four million adults (9% of Brits) will even travel to destinations that are more likely to have snow in late December to increase their chances of a fairytale Christmas Day. Adults living in Nottingham are the most likely to have travelled in search of snow.

The most popular destination for these travellers is Scotland, followed by Lapland, Austria, Canada and Switzerland.
Guy Parsons, Travelodge's Chief Operating Officer said; "Reservations at our Scottish hotels have risen significantly compared to the same period last December. People seem to be upping their chances of seeing snow this Christmas by travelling North."
