Guildford's newest budget hotel, Travelodge is this week celebrating record results in its first year in the town, by hosting a party for staff, customers and local business partners.

The 152-room hotel has been one of the company's top ten performers all year by consistently having occupancy levels of over 90%. The opening year has been the best performance by a Travelodge anywhere in the south of England(1).

Angela Sullivan, Hotel Manager for Guildford, said: "As a business, we were really excited about opening in Guildford. Being the county's principal town we always knew that Guildford would be buzzing with activity. Our first year celebration is to say thank you to the community and recognise their contribution to our success. We hope we can continue to play a major role in the area."

As part of the celebrations Guildford Travelodge asked the pupils of Sandfield Primary School to design their dream bedroom. The winning entry was picked by The Mayor of Guildford, Councillor Angela Gunning and Councillor Caroline Reeves.

Sullivan added: "We hope the children enjoyed taking part in this competition, the winner, Adam Kennedy will have his dream bedroom framed and displayed in our reception area. All of the entries were filled with wonderful colours and imagination."

During the Travelodge's first year, Guildford's visitors to the hotel have drunk 221,920 cups of tea and coffee, used 55,480 bars of soap and used enough toilet roll to stretch from Guildford to Lisbon (Portugal). Amazingly the hotels staff have, over the past year, climbed enough steps to reach the top of the Eiffel Tower 3201 times

Guildford Travelodge has rooms for as little as £15 and £26 for a family of four. Family rooms include a pull out sofa bed as well as a king size bed (it's suitable for two adults and two children aged 15 or under or three adults). The hotel also offers double and disabled rooms at the same low price.
