Travelodge, the UK's leading budget hotel chain today announced the conditional exchange of contracts on a new hotel development site in Stratford-on-Avon Birmingham Road, Stratford-on-Avon, CV37 0UF. The company's plans mean a regeneration of the land which formally housed NCJ Works - an industrial manufacturer of metal pressings. The 92-room hotel will be the first branded budget hotel to open in the town, is expected to create 30 new jobs and will offer rooms from £15 per night.

Planning for the new hotel will be submitted to Stratford-on-Avon District Council imminently and a decision is expected within thirteen weeks. Following the outcome, construction of the new hotel will be led by local developers Chase Midlands Limited.

Tony O'Brien Travelodge's Development Director said; "We are very excited about this development. Stratford-on-Avon is an extremely desirable location for us due to its high volume of leisure visitors. As part of our aggressive growth plan we aim to open 3,000 rooms in 2007 and a further 3,000 per year until 2010. Stratford-on-Avon Travelodge will play an important role in ensuring we achieve this goal."
