Today, Essex’s first budget hotel brand, Travelodge, opened its second hotel in Romford. The company’s 548th hotel is located in the heart of Romford town centre above The Quadrant shopping centre.

London Romford The Quadrant Travelodge is a 65-room hotel with Bar Café situated on top of The Quadrant shopping centre which is a classic art deco design building designed and created by William Goodchild in 1935.

The hotel represents an investment of £8 million for the landlord and has created 25 new jobs within the local community. Rooms are available from £29 and can be booked at: www.travelodge.co.uk

Travelodge opened its first hotel in Essex in 1986 in Brentwood and today operates 14 hotels across the county.

London Romford The Quadrant Travelodge features the company’s new contemporary brand design which includes an upgraded room concept created by customers. All rooms include the bespoke luxurious king-size Travelodge Dreamer bed.

A champagne reception was held to celebrate the opening of London Romford The Quadrant Travelodge, where the Mayor of Havering, Councillor Linda Van den Hende joined Bryn Taylor, Travelodge Regional Director for the South East to officially open the hotel.

At the opening event, Travelodge also announced that Essex is a key growth area for the company and it’s looking to expand its portfolio with a further 11 new hotels. Travelodge is looking for sites in the following locations: Basildon, Brentwood, Canvey Island, Chelmsford, Colchester, Epping, Grays Thurrock, Maldon, Rayleigh, Southend-on-Sea and Waltham Abbey.

This expansion programme represents an investment value of approximately £88 million for third party investors and will boost Travelodge’s portfolio to 25 hotels in Essex and create an additional 350 new jobs.

Bryn Taylor, Travelodge Regional Director for the South East said:We are delighted to be opening our second hotel in the heart of Romford town centre. Over the last three decades.  Travelodge has become famous across the county for offering unbeatable value and making travel affordable for everyone, which has helped attract more business and leisure travellers to the area.”

“As we look to the future, Essex is a key growth area for Travelodge. Following our £1.2 million investment in upgrading the customer experience and raising quality levels across our Essex hotels we have seen a significant rise in sales; interestingly with more business customers staying in our hotels than ever before.

The Essex economy is growing at pace with increasing visitor numbers to the area. However, there is still a shortage of good quality accommodation at a great value price. Therefore to meet this growing consumer demand we are looking for new hotel sites in the following locations: Basildon, Brentwood, Canvey Island, Chelmsford, Colchester, Epping, Grays Thurrock, Maldon, Rayleigh, Southend-on-Sea and Waltham Abbey. This expansion programme will boost Travelodge’s portfolio to 25 hotels in Essex and create an additional 350 new jobs.”

Mayor of Havering, Councillor Linda Van den Hende said:  “We are delighted that Travelodge has opened a second hotel in Romford and is supporting the town’s economic development goals.  I believe the addition of Travelodge will have a positive impact on the town by providing employment for local residents, affordable accommodation for visitors and generating extra spend in the wider local economy.

London Romford The Quadrant Travelodge is located in a prime location above The Quadrant shopping centre, making it the ideal location for attracting business and leisure travellers to the area.  It has been a pleasure to be part of the official opening event and I wish the hotel team the best of luck for the future."

Caroline Kellagher, Hotel Manager at London Romford The Quadrant Travelodge said: “I am very proud to have built a fantastic team who are as passionate as myself about delivering great customer service. Our newhotel has got off to a flying start. We have been literally booked out with business customers during the week and leisure travellers at the weekend, since we opened for business. This is great news for the local economy too, as our research shows that annually Travelodge customers will spend over £2 million with local businesses during their stay with us.”

“Customers love our new upgraded contemporary room design and we have been inundated with customer requests on how they can get hold of our bespoke king size Travelodge Dreamer Bed for their home.”
